The PTI started its journey on November 1, 1986 with the aim of imparting training to the people interested in becoming teachers of the then Nawabganj subdivision. The activities of this PTI first started at Kamal Uddin Girls High School in the then Nawabganj subdivision town. For some time after that, PTI classes were conducted at Nawabganj Government College. Later, PTI's activities were carried out by constructing a tinsed building on 33 per cent land in a part of the existing PTI. Later, when it became government in 1984, the present PTI position was identified by acquiring 5 acres of land through the Deputy Commissioner. Then in 1992 different buildings of PTI were constructed. Mr. Saleha Mahtab played the most important role in the establishment of this PTI. In the competition of National Primary Education Medal 2018 and 2019, this PTI was selected as the best PTI of Rajshahi division and participated at the national level. At present this PTI is one of the notable PTIs in Bangladesh.
